This is the Hillman 3 colour camera. It is the one that is in the collection of the National Museum of Scotland. It has many design features that I find very clever and innovative. This design is the basis for the single shot 3 colour camera that I intend to build for use with my project. Obviously I am not going to recreate the camera in all its teak and brass glory. I will be repurposing a lot of parts from other cameras and utilising 3D printing for much of the hardware and mounting points for the optics. It will look like Frankenstein’s monster, but considering I have been using my homemade pinhole camera as my primary way of taking photos for about 20 years now I’m sure I’ll make a worthy camera. Of course, I will consider making my 3D print plans and camera design available on the creative commons for others who may want to play with 3 colour shooting.
